Things to Avoid During Massage

As enjoyable, relaxing, and healthy as massage is, it’s not always the best thing to do. Despite its healing and calming properties, certain conditions are contraindicated for massage.

The massage therapist should move slow, and if you are in pain you should ask the therapist to either lighten up their touch, or stop. You should not get on the massage table until an hour after you have eaten. If you have visible wounds such as cuts, bruises, lesions, boils, rashes, eczema and any other skin condition, massage in those areas should be avoided. Other conditions such as pregnancy and menstruation require the masseuse to proceed with caution and you should not receive massage on the abdomen. Salt Lake Massage Therapy can be very helpful if you have any questions at all.
